Exhaust gas treatment systems (EGTS) are one of a number of options available to meet ever stricter emissions regulations. EGTS will not be suitable for all ship types or operators, and the age of assets also will be a factor in making commercial decisions.

This guide provides owners and operators with an overview of the technology used in exhaust gas treatment systems; the technical challenges to consider during the installation and operation of these systems; and the regulatory framework that governs the use of these systems.

The guide was developed with the support of the Shipping Emissions, Abatement and Trading (SEAaT), an organisation comprising owner-operators who are looking for cost-effective compliance solutions.
